Blue Planet Straws from Shaffer Foods are made from grass reeds and are organically grown - honoring the soils and its mycology with rotations and fertilizers from cultivated seaweeds (not harvested) making a real difference in the manufacturing waste and damage. Our soils remain fertile and our straws just keep getting better.

Once you've enjoyed your drink, I hope it was good, and the straw gets tossed into the garbage, our straws biodegrade like a simple blade of grass, slowly releasing its nutrients to the ground. Zero waste.

Our packaging is non virgin card stock for easy recycling and our print dies are vegetable based and use base colours which are easier on the planet.

I have read statistics that over 500 million straws are used every day. I think that seems high, but regardless, if you dont start out with a good whole vegan product the issues multiply quickly.

Paper straws are some of the worst offenders from toxicity not only to the planet but to the person. Plastic straws have done their damage though they continue to be sold throughout the world which we hope to end.
